Tea time in York, 2012

I read several posts by different bloggers about how to better iphone photos this morning and I realised that it really is about the basics of how to take a good photograph:
1. natural lighting (direction of light)
2. composition (rule of 3rds, leading lines)
3. focus (and creating depth in the background)
4. get close enough to the subject
5. think about what you want to capture/why do you want to take a photograph of that moment and then take the photo

Christmas Eve in Hong Kong

We decided to join the crowd at the Victoria Harbour for Christmas Eve despite expecting a large crowd for the occasion.
In front of the Peninsula Hotel, which I had also taken a picture with when I was a baby in Hong Kong.
After dinner with N's parents, we found our way to the harbourfront.
There were so many live music bands playing side by side along the harbour walk. Among the many bands playing, there was an uncle who played Cantonese Christian songs that we are familiar with, so I was really touched to hear the Gospel message amidst the Jay Chou/JJ Lin cover songs. I prayed that God would help these people know Him.

London memories (Spring)

A spring day in London, with my favourite person, filled with some of the things that bring smiles to my face: good spring weather, matcha latte, walks, bookstore, daffodils, ramen, pretty window displays, brick buildings...

As I look back at these memories and time spent in the Big City, I give thanks for the gift of life, creativity, beauty, mobility, and an iphone. Nothing is deserved but all is grace. As such, I acknowledge and hope I can always maintain this posture of gratefulness.
