03.11.2013

A typical day in my postgraduate studies day in Bristol. Looking back, I miss these days. The roads I always took, the seasons, and the mundane.
The gym is next to the arts and social science library.
Walking over to the local food store to buy some fruits. Actually I rarely went to this store but I did that day to treat myself to some healthy options instead of my usual Sainsbury's haul.

thankful list

I've been inspired by a few other people about having a tangible way of remembering to be thankful for the everyday blessings so I thought why not put it on the blog so I can see the "thankful items" clearly? So here is the first one!
I am thankful for...
-supportive classmates and professor in helping me formulate my research report's topic by talking through the ideas I have with me. It was really helpful to talk about the disorganized ideas in my head with them.
-getting milo from Malaysia.
-this stack of books from the library. Ha! (but to be honest, I am thankful for having easy access to the resources I need for my study) and the library staffs here are so helpful. Also, it was good that we had library training sessions so we know how to search for resources most effectively and how to do references/bibliography.

-discovering this album by Chelseamoonmusic. I've been listening to it nonstop since yesterday.

Simple things

Some simple things that keep me sane in the midst of paper-writing stress and other responsibilities.
Cooking and eating sweet potatoes...
Goguma
Organising things in my room...
shoes
and drinking tea...
Peppermint tea
What are some little things you like to do when you are stressed?

Studying applied linguistics

It is well into the month of October and classes and assignments are keeping me busy. The teachers are all really helpful and organized so that takes a lot the stress away. I went on a day trip to the Lake District this past Saturday and hiked around the lakes. It was a beautiful day. I will blog about that soon.

Here's a passage on wisdom that I read recently and it is a great reminder that in whatever we are doing now, we need to fear God first and walk in His path.
" My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,  turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding--indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,  and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,  then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.  For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.  He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,  for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.  Then you will understand what is right and just and fair--every good path.  For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul."
- Proverbs 2:1-10
