Rolling hills and blue English sky

I arrived Manchester airport on the morning of September 15th and joined the group of international students arriving from various countries to be picked up by the York St. John representatives. While waiting to load our luggage onto the coach/bus, a jolly policeman approached me, my German friend, and my Norwegian friend as we were taking photos with each other, offering to help take a photo of us three. We were pleasantly surprised by the policeman's friendliness because at first we thought we were in trouble for doing something wrong. That was a good first impression of England.
The almost two-hour drive to York was a beautiful ride. There were rolling hills under the blue sky, with a sprinkle of brick English cottages, just like what I imagined the UK to be. There were lots of sheep and cows grazing the grass on the hills. The plants that I saw along the road are different from the US' and of course Malaysia's. Lots of berries, rounded-top-shaped trees, and pink wildflowers (for a lack of better knowledge of plant names).
The little white dots are sheep.

All throughout the ride to York, I kept repeating "I can't believe I'm here. I'm in Europe again. I'm in England. It's SO beautiful here" in my mind. It took a while for me to get used to the fact that I am on English ground.
York is a lovely little town. It is so quintessentially British. Lots of beautiful gardens, windows with beautiful curtains inside... I'm sorry I didn't take too many pictures but I am sure I will take pictures little by little of this beautiful place in the days to come. :)
This is the school. We picked up our keys and went to our accommodation. All the staffs and students there were very friendly and helpful. Other freshmen are also there to pick up their welcome week packs and accommodation keys.

More to come!
